FILIAS CUSTOM BUILT-IN HUMIDOR DESIGN CREATES STATE-OF-THE-ART ELECTRONIC SYSTEM FOR CAMPION PLATT CABINET IN THE ESQUIRE NORTH SHOW HOUSE IN NEW YORK.

York, Maine - Greg Filias, the designer behind Filias Custom Built-in Humidor Design, was recently commissioned by renowned architect and designer, Campion Platt, to seamlessly outfit a Lucite cabinet of Mr. Platt’s design for the Esquire North Show House in New York. The humidor was installed in the Versace Room of the stunning multi-million dollar penthouse at 111 Central Park North in time for a series of ongoing gala charity events being held at the location.

“Working with Campion Platt for the show house was both an honor and a challenge, in that the space I had to work with was already fixed. By working in white Plexiglas, I was able to coordinate with Campion’s vision of his Versace-themed room and his clear humidor cabinet design. The white concept of my system enclosure and control panel made for an integrated but highly stylish appearance in the clear Plexiglas furniture,” notes Greg Filias.

Filias custom solutions are unique in their completely seamless designs and integration. Filias can outfit any new cabinet or living space, existing cabinet or free-standing piece of furniture with proprietary components designed to maintain the perfect conditions for storing, maintaining and exhibiting cigars. Filias systems are completely hidden and make use of state-of-the-art process control and humidity sensing technology to maintain a desired RH level of within +/- 1% accuracy. Unlike visually obtrusive electric or battery-powered humidification systems that are available only as self-contained boxes, all Filias system components are individually designed into their spaces to be as visible or invisible as the space or client’s wishes dictate. All working parts are completely hidden from view, except for the LED process control panel. Filias systems make use of anti-microbial moisture delivery and 120V AC to 24V DC power for safety. Even water dispensing itself is individually designed for each application, utilizing a custom fabricated stainless steel water tank or direct-plumbed system.

“My approach is to work closely with a designer or directly with the homeowner and cigar connoisseur to get a sense of their cigar storage needs and the room in which they would like the installation. I’ll take a look at photos of the bare room that requires a concept from scratch or the space that needs to be retrofitted, then I will present rough conceptual sketches. These sketches can be as visually exciting or as unobtrusive as my client desires,” added Filias.
